STARTING WITH US

Staff will work closely with parents to ensure your child's first days with us are happy and confident

At Playmates your child's welfare is paramount and this begins from the very first time you visit us.

Staff will begin to build relationships with you and your child so they have a friendly face to help them through their first days.

Keyworkers are allocated based on how relationships are forming and the sessions the child will attend to ensure they are familiar with an adult from the beginning on the majority of their time with us.

Our Settling In Policy is very flexible to allow for most eventualities and we have experience of dealing with everything your child might challenge us with as they attend their first few days.

Every child is offered at least 1 'Stay n Play' session where they visit us for approximately an hour during a morning or afternoon. A parent or guardian will accompany them so the child can enjoy their time with us while knowing a parent/carer is close by if they become worried.

If the child is settled parents are encouraged to complete paperwork in the Office to give the child space to enjoy the activities.

Further 'Stay n Play' sessions will be offered based on the individual child's needs.

During every session the children have free access to their own individual water bottle. Snack is offered and consists of milk or water to drink and various options for food. This could be fruit or vegetables, cheese and crackers or cereal and we encourage them to try food from different cultures to add some diversity.

If your child has an allergy to anything please ensure it is written on their Child Information Form when your child starts with us so we put procedures in place to ensure they do not come into contact with it.

  • Parental Involvement...

We are always trying to think of ways for our parents/carers to share their child’s learning experiences.

We ask all our parents to sign up to the Famly app, so they can get real time information and news on their child and our setting.

Reports and summaries on each child are available for the parents to read and contribute towards, providing a record of how their child is learning and what they might need support with. By working together, we can ensure all our children are reaching or exceeding their early learning goals.

Through the app, you can contact your child’s Keyworker directly, if you have any concerns with your child's learning or welfare.

Regular updates of the exciting activities we get up to are posted on our Facebook page, "Playmates Pre-school Raunds", so you can see how the children build and develop their understanding of the world in our enriching learning environment.

We also have a "Playmates Pre-school Parents" Group on Facebook, to which only our parents/carers are accepted, promoting a friendly and engaging community for our families to build relationships with each other.
